Where will Robin be available?

Robin will ship to: US, UK, Canada, Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Iceland, India, Japan, Norway, Switzerland, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Taiwan, Australia and New Zealand. We’re working hard to make Nextbit more widely available—stay tuned.

Why isn’t Robin available in my country?

To properly support the launch of Robin we are only shipping to a limited set of countries. We hope to increase the number of countries we ship to from our own site. We will let you know if anything changes.

What mobile networks will support Robin?

Robin is unlocked so if your SIM is compatible with an unlocked phone, then you’re golden. Supported mobile networks vary by location. Robin is fully compatible with the networks in most countries we ship to. In the US, Nextbit phones work with T-Mobile, AT&T, Sprint and Verizon. For T-Mobile, AT&T, and international subscribers, please order the GSM version. For Sprint and Verizon subscribers, please order the CDMA version.

What’s included in the shipping cost?

Our shipping cost reflects both the actual shipping and VAT costs. Unfortunately, we can’t show these as separate line items, so it’s reflected in the higher total shipping cost you see as a backer.

What warranties apply to the phone?

Robin is covered under a one-year warranty that covers everything except physical damage. Since your device comes with an unlocked bootloader and open source drivers, you can load Cyanogen or your other favorite ROM and we’ll still cover the phone.

Will the uploads/downloads to/from the cloud drain my battery or data?

We kept your battery life in mind when designing Robin. In fact, by default, Robin will back up when you’re plugged into a power source and connected to WiFi. Robin is ready to make extra space when you need it, without using up additional battery life or data. You are free to change the Online Storage settings on your device depending on your needs.

Why do I have to wait until February?

It boils down to manufacturing time. Production on your new devices typically takes a few months. We expect this to wrap up in January— the perfect amount of time to put final touches on software and hardware.

Can you explain the different USB types compatible with Robin?

Our phone is also USB 3.0 compatible—giving you the fastest way to connect to a computer. Since this is a cloud-first phone, we know that you’ll mostly be using the cable to charge your phone which is why we only include a 2.0 cable—it’s much more flexible than a 3.0 cable so you can plug in with less hassle. If you want to make high-speed data transfers, you’ll need to purchase a USB 3.0 cable.

How will I charge my Robin?

We’re environmentally-friendly and we know most of you already have a charger you can use. Robin is also Quick Charge enabled, so we’re even ready for new chargers if you have one. If you don’t have one, you can purchase one of ours.

Will there be other accessories available?

As of now, you are able to purchase cases, charging cables, screen protectors, and Quick Chargers for your Robin.

Does Robin record 4K video?

Yes! There was some confusion around this earlier in the campaign, but we are happy to announce that you will be able to record 4K video.

Can I get root access?

Robin comes with an unlocked bootloader and open source drivers. Root won’t be enabled out of the box, but with an unlocked bootloader, you can do what you want.

Is Robin microSD compatible?

Robin does not have a microSD slot because we believe the cloud is a much more viable solution for phone storage, for a couple of different reasons. First, it’s pretty common to lose or damage an SD card. Second, SD cards provide finite storage. We want your data to always be available to you and expand with your needs - hence the idea of cloud storage.

How much storage do I really have?

You really do get 100GB in the cloud, free for the lifetime of the phone. We are backing up what’s on your Robin to the cloud every chance we get, which means what’s on your phone is also in the cloud. This means Robin will act as though it has 100 GB of storage (maybe a little more) but only 32 GB of stuff can be stored locally (on the internal memory).

Should I be concerned about security? We use Google Authenticator for your login so we never store your password and we offer two-factor authentication. Encryption is used for all data during transport and when your data is at rest. We are also working with a third party on a system-wide security audit.

BackerKit FAQ

What is BackerKit?

BackerKit is a service that crowdfunded project creators use to keep track of hundreds to tens of thousands of backers—from shipping details, pledge levels, preferences and quantities, whether they have paid or had their card declined, special notes, and everything in between!

The BackerKit software and support team is independent from the campaign’s project team—BackerKit does not handle the actual reward shipping. For more information about the preparation or delivery status of your rewards, please check the project's updates page.

How does BackerKit work?

After the campaign ends, the project creator will send you an email with a unique link to your survey. You can check out a walkthrough of the process here.

I never received my invitation. How do I complete the survey?

The most common reasons for not receiving a survey email is that you may be checking an email inbox different from the email address you used to sign up with Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account, or it may be caught in your spam filter.

Confirm that the email address you are searching matches the email address tied to your Kickstarter, Indiegogo, or Tilt Pro account. If that doesn’t work, then try checking your spam, junk or promotions folders. You can also search for "backerkit” in your inbox.

To resend the survey to yourself, visit the project page and input the email address associated with your Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account.

How do I update my shipping address?

BackerKit allows you to update your shipping address until the shipping addresses are locked by the project creator. To update your address, go back to your BackerKit survey by inputting your email here.

When will my order be shipped, charged or locked?

That is handled directly by the project creator. BackerKit functions independently of the project itself, so we do not have control of their physical shipping timeline. If you want to check on the project’s status, we recommend reading over the project's updates page.

I completed the survey, but haven't received my rewards yet. When will they arrive?

As BackerKit does not actually handle any rewards or shipping, the best way to stay updated on the shipping timeline would be to check out the project's updates page.
